For more than a decade, we’ve imported akoya pearls from just two sources in Japan. We do this to guarantee the pearls have grown for two full seasons – a Japanese pearl farming style known as “koshimono.” This is important because growth time directly affects the nacre thickness, or the durability of your pearls. You want your pearls to last a lifetime, and you want to be able to pass them down from generation to generation. Two seasons of growth guarantees you will.
The 6.0-6.5 mm pearls in this necklace have been treated with a permanent organic dye to achieve their dark coloration as black is not a naturally occurring color in akoya pearls.
The necklace is 16 inches and will lay just above your collar bone. The pearls are individually knotted on twin black silk and the necklace is finished with a solid gold safety clasp. Your pearls will always be secure.
